I just want to make a post saying thank you to amiraelizabeth & turtleyurtle1 for making this community/project. It's made the last two weeks of Avatar such a rich experience, so thank you, thank you, thank you for doing this.

Hey guys it's Kara of course, thought you'd like to see my Avatar collection on this last day of celebrating the show. Also, a video for good measure. See how I look and sound for the FIRST TIME! Oooh...

Thanks to ALL of you, because without you guys, I probably wouldn't have been interested in the show of genre. Also thanks to the voice actors, writers, artists, Track Team, and of course Bryke for making such an awesome show! This show has helped me get new friends and learn important lessons in an entertaining way. So thanks to all of you for making the past three years so special.

One morning, I was flipping through channels and stopped on Nickelodeon. There was a show on, and the image onscreen was of three kids flying on what looked like a flying...something. I decided to watch it, and found myself enjoying it.
But what got me was when the girl glared at her brother, said "All done with your pants, and look what a great job I did!", and flung said garment at him. I fell off my seat laughing; man she got him good!
As I continued watching, I began to think 'Hey this is really good.' The animation was well done, and the dialogue kept me interested. But what caught me was that girl. I noticed that the voice actress doing her had a lovely voice, and was hanging on every word. When the ep was over, (which was "The Warriors of Kyoshi") I thought "Eh, that was fun."
But it wasn't until I got the first dvd that I began to grow into an Avatard. I found out that the girl's name was Katara. I started looking for fanart and fanfiction, and saving up my money for the next dvd. I did watch the episodes when they aired on Nick, and found out about the other characters. I'm ashamed to admit I thought Aang was annoying, but he grew on me, as did Sokka. I hated Zuko with a fervent passion and prayed he wouldn't catch the Avatar. When Katara faced down Pakku, I was cheering her on. :D
When Season One ended, I was a fledgling Avatard, but couldn't wait for the next season, and whe it aired, I was pleasantly suprised and pleased when Toph was introduced; a blind Earth Bender was cool! And one of my fave eps was "Cave of the Two Lovers"; when the screen went black just as Aang and Katara leaned in toward each other, I yelled "WHAT!?!?" at the screen. Now there's no doubt in my mind that they did K-I-S-S. ;) Zuko was slowly becoming one of my fave characters. But Katara was amazing.
Season Two ended with the take-over of Ba Sing Se, Zuko acting like a dirty rotten traitor, and Aang barely alive. Needless to say, I was waiting and hoping for Season Three to start. And I prayed for Katara to kick some butt
It came, and I was happy, especially with the eps "The Headband", "The Painted Lady", and "The Puppetmaster". When the fianle was rolling around, I was kinda sad, but kinda happy, mostly because I had heard a rumor that Katara was gonna face down the man who killed her mother. "Southern Raiders" did not disappoint, and neither did the final scene (I squealed like a little girl :D).
All in all, I felt a connection to the Water Tribe girl. I had watched her grow up from a insecure learner to a powerful master, from an awkward young girl to a striking young woman. Thanks to her I became an Avatar fan for life.
So thank you Mae Whitman for bringing Katara to life with your voice, and to Mike and Bryan for creating an amazing character.

All the cool kids are doing it, so I guess I'll tell my story as well! :P

We've got until tonight I believe, but I'll be out and about on western time today, so I want to do this now.

Thanks so much guys.

If this makes it to Mike and to Bryan and to the whole crew then great. If not, we did just what we set out to do. We proved that Avatar and it's fans are beyond amazing. We did some cool stuff here.

We really truely did.

I want people to know how cool everyone is, and how great everyone can be.

Your stories, your art, your drabbles, and AMVs. They were amazing and inspiring and interesting and funny.

I have a story to tell...Collapse )

Ahh, Avatar...

So no, I don’t have any sob stories about avatar. It didn’t pull me through a rough patch in my life, and it didn’t stop me from committing suicide. It wasn’t the point of inspiration that got me into art, or anime, and it didn’t convince me to take up Northern Shaolin kung fu. But to say Avatar: the Last Airbender hasn’t been important to me would be misguided.
For the past 3 years avatar has been a constant source of happiness to me.  I laughed at all the slap stick and subtle humor every character provided. I often sat open mouthed, and sometimes even drooling, when watching particularly amazing fight scenes (120, 220, 303, 315). And I got happiness yelling out in joy every Tuesday at 8 am because it was half way to a new episode. Even in times when I was have Avatar Withdrawal Syndrome symptoms that would get as severe as nightmares, anxiety, and tremors, I still managed to pull comfort from fan fictions and Avatar reruns.  My friends and I have debated for weeks on end about the more technical aspects of elemental magic and the science of bending. Debates about tattoo applications and hair styling techniques, contents of mouth foam and the usefulness of Pai Sho tiles. It even got to the point where we discussed the thermodynamic probability of a boiling lake in our advanced chemistry class with my teacher.
And so, I applaud Avatar: the Last Airbender. For all the beautiful backgrounds and beautiful characters. For all the wonderful music, whether it be the Agni Kai background music or “Secret Tunnel”. For all the nights that I rolled around on the floor in pleasure after that especially good episode. All the friends I’ve made, and all the fire flakes that were so spicy they burned my eyes as I pulled them out of the oven.  And, for the “friendly” debates that once or twice escalated to the point where punches were thrown (they may have been shipping debates).
But I also applaud you, my fellow Avatards. If you type “Avatar” into the search on deviantart.com you get 377,779 results.  You guys are such an amazingly dedicated group of fans. Did year long hiatuses ever make you lose interest? How about filler episodes or never ending shipping wars? I can’t tell you how happy all you cosplayers, fan artist, and fiction writers have made me over the past few years. There have been points where I’ve almost peed myself while reading MiSTs or watching Avatar Stupidity, or the Abridged Series, or even just looking at photoshopped screen shots. So, for all the hard work anyone has ever put into an Animated Music Video,  fanfiction, fan art, or research for a debate, I applaud you. I applaud all of my fellow Avatar Fans for all love and passion they have put in to make this one of the best group of fans I have ever seen. Even though the series is now over I’m sure that you will continue on with all the art and cosplays and speculations and that we will continue to keep this fandom alive.
Thank You for everything.

For those that don't know.

This Friday I was wedded to the love of my life. The man that I hope to stay with forever. Henceforth I did not catch ember island and I am watching it now.

However on Saturday I spent my honeymoon, in our jacuzzi watching the finale together. We're both Avatar fans and we both squealed and got up on the edge of our tube to watch what happens.

There is only so much I can say but
WOW! Aang. Look how much you have grown up
